A Plan?

Ok, so I've been thinking a lot lately about what I want to do. And no, I don't have many answers. However, I keep leaning towards Library Science. I don't know much about it or the programs but it seems interesting, if not lucrative. Maybe it's the idea of being surrounded my books, with their smell, and the way the pages feel when you flip through them. And even though I know the reality is not my perfect wall to wall book fantasy, it still seems to be one of the only things I am interested in.

So, I was talking over things with the ladies at lunch and we came to a few conclusions.
  • I need to get the hell out of my current job(s). I don't get any benefits and they way our company is, I never know if I'll actually have all of my hours from week to week
  • I need to get the heck out of town. Yes, I've lived other places, but never for more than a year. Also, there are very little opportunities around here unless you are in a medical field.
  • While there are a few colleges around for library science, the ones I might like are in Denton, TX or Tucson, AZ. However, I wouldn't be able to get in for this school year.
  • I have little money, would totally have to take out a student loan and find a job.
  • I would have no car because mine would never make it.
Conclusion: If I can find a job and if I can convince my friend to let me live with him (possibly rent free for a little while) Arizona might be my best best. I could look for jobs, (maybe) live with my friend, saving money, and then if I am there long enough, hopefully qualify as a resident so I would get tuition cheaper. Also, I know the city has a lovely bus route that goes right to the college.
The town is bigger (much) bigger than I am used to and I know I'll hate the heat in summer, but so far this seems the best idea I have come up with so far.

Thoughts?? Comments?? Ideas?? Please I need them all.

  1. I am excited for you that you are thinking about this again!

You have mentioned Arizona before, and if moving to Arizona is what is in your heart, you should take the first steps to seeing if it can become a reality. You'll need to talk to him and even see if he is on board with you staying with him at all. I know he is a friend, but you never know. Once that is established, it will be easier to move on to the next steps... finding the program you want, get a loan, etc. And if you are able to get a loan, won't going back to school halt all of your school payments for awhile? Then if you get a job while you are going to school you may be able to save up. I don't know, just a thought.

P.S. - I looked at the program at Denton, too!
